Our Purpose
(from the 2002 Discipline of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church)
1135.14. Communication of Information and Technology (CIT) Ministry
1. The CIT Ministry shall operate within the Department of Lay Ministry.
2. It shall broadly serve the interest of the video, computer, and other advancing technologies of the C.M.E. Church.
3. The investment to be made by the General Church shall be considered and determined by the General Conference.
4. The General Secretary of Lay Ministry shall devise a plan of funding for equipment and operational needs of these ministries considering all potential avenues of revenue.
5. A Director of Video Training, Director of Computer Literacy, and a Webmaster for the C.M.E. Church shall be named by the General Secretary in cooperation with the College of Bishops and other C.M.E. members well informed in these ministries. These directors shall develop their own operating procedures and seek to further advance these ministries at all levels in the C.M.E. Church.
6. The Department of Lay Ministry shall pool these teams in ways that produce functional efficiency in Connectional Meetings.
7. The General Secretary of Lay Ministry shall cooperate with the administrators of connectional venues to enlist the services of these ministries and devise the appropriate procedures.
