The Department of Lay Ministry aids the CME Church in equipping and enabling her members to engage in effective ministry in the Name of Jesus Christ.
The Lay Department’s primary focus is on the whole people of God. As such, this department develops programs that will strengthen the ministry of the “people of God” who, as the “saints” of the Household of God, “build up the body of Christ.”
Lay Ministry aids the local congregations of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church to “equip” the members of the congregations to be more effective witnesses of Jesus Christ in stewardship and service. It also helps local congregations address the needs and concerns of people, as they confront the hostility of the present society.
Lay ministry also helps to insure that its church members engage in such leadership and service roles as stewards, stewardesses, trustees, choir members, ushers and other leadership capacities.
