The music ministry of Holsey Chapel has a rich tradition for providing music which supports the spoken word through traditional hymns, spirituals, anthems, gospels and inspirational music. The music leaders strive to remain authentic in their interpretation of music from our heritage, while providing a contemporary approach to reach the spirit of the present age. The Senior Choir and Mass Choir provide music for the morning worship on scheduled Sundays of the month. Our Youth Choir serves on each fourth Sunday and selected services throughout the church year. Men and women from all choirs and the congregation have come together to form the Male Chorus and Women’s Chorale.
The music ministry has also extended its services to include seasonal concerts, services with area churches and choral workshops. Noted musicians, such as Professor Milton Boren, Jenelsie Owens, Vanessa Melton, and Johnelia Jordan have supported our music ministry. Presently, the department is headed by Annie Pearl Stepherson. As Director of Music, she has an extensive knowledge of church music and the ability to direct the choirs and music program so as to get stellar results.
